ONE: They’re not who you think they are.
Surprise! Most of your mobile shoppers haven’t shopped from you before. mShopper data shows that between 75% and 80% of orde
rs are placed by shoppers with no pre-existing account with the retailer.

TWO: They’re not bothered by what you think bothers them.
The act of finding exactly what they want is harder for mobile shoppers than the labor-intensive checkout. Add-to-cart rates for mobile phone shoppers can be as low as 1-3% with a non-optimized store, and may only jump to 5% after optimizing the design and layout.
To approach 10%, mShopper data shows that its retailers need to add search-assist features such as filtered search tools specially formatted for mobile that appear on both search and home pages. Sadly, most mobile sites do not have these. 🙁
THREE: They’re not as private as you think.
Another surprise: Mobile shoppers will gladly give you their mobile number and permission to contact them on their smart phone. Just ask and make it worth it.
FOUR: They’re more click-happy than you think.
Click rates for SMS messages are often more than ten times that of emails. Research also shows that SMS messages are opened within 15 minutes (not 24 hours like with email), so they are very effective at unloading excess items quickly.
