The Importance of Custom Faceted Search for Mobile
Can we all agree that Amazon’s custom faceted search make it incredibly easy to find what you are looking for? I know I utilize custom faceted search every time I shop…TV sizes, items per pack, ratings, etc…
Well, we’ve taken a page from our peers over at Amazon and given you the power to customize your mobile store search, too!
We’ve recently deployed a powerful new feature to our newest version of the mStore(R), Custom Faceted Search. We’ve included this functionality as part of our mobile store as it helps to enhance and expedite by reducing the “friction” in a mobile shopper’s experience – which is essential for helping increase mobile conversions and sales.
For our clients, our implementation of custom faceted search makes it easy for you to import all the custom fields and data you want through your product data feed. This enables shoppers to add an extra filter onto their search parameters based on whatever field YOU define.
For mobile shoppers, this allows them to refine their search even more accurately so they can most easily find what they are looking for (Amazon does a great job of this).
The functionality itself is very simple to deploy, too. Just select a category to run the filter on, select the data source you want to search within, and click “Show” (available for display on the menu and/or SERP page).
What makes this such a helpful tool is that it is only limited to the scope of data you want to provide to your shoppers. Because we build our stores with the power of a data feed, and you can import custom fields on the fly, you, too, can create an unlimited combination of custom searches and filters. By doing this, your users can find what they want with a minimum of “friction” on their way to the cart – and sale.
