CNBC: 5 problems retailers have to fix in 2014 including optimize your website for mobile visitors
On Wednesday CNBC released an article entitled “5 Problems Retailers Have to Fix in 2014.” While it seems like retailers are in a constant state of fixing problems and putting out fires, the one that caught our eye the most was Problem #2: “Shopping using smartphones isn’t great”. In particular, we wanted to wholeheartedly agree with this quote:
“Smartphones are a great place for shoppers to browse items, but conversions to sales are very low.”
mShopper’s data from the holiday season (from 100+ retail clients) showed exactly that. If you did not optimize your website for mobile visitors, your conversion rates were painfully low, in the 0.3% to 0.4% range. Not only does this reduce sales right away, but it discourages shoppers from ever pulling out their phone in the future when they think of your brand, see an ad, or want to buy something from you.
Thanks, CNBC, for elevating this major retail problem on your list. For the other 4 problems, read “5 Problems Retailers Have To Fix in 2014.”
